On the significance of the day, Ramanujan’s contribution to the field of mathematics was discussed. Talking about the life of Srinivasa Ramanujan students said that he is famous as the greatest Indian mathematician in the world. The students also said that in 2012, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had declared Srinivasa Ramanujan’s birthday, December 22, as National Mathematics Day.

Students spoke about the life of Jagadish Chandra Bose, a multi-talented Bengali-born physicist and biologist. They said that his achievement was that he proved to the world that like animals, plants also respond to external influences.
