Bengaluru, Aug. 12: National Library Day was celebrated herein Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra- Banashankari on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the father of Indian space science, and the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, known as the “Father of Indian Librarians”. In the program, students explained the life of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, his significant contribution to the Indian space sector and his achievements. Later, they shared the life of researcher, mathematician, librarian and educationist Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, his contribution to the progress of the field of librarianship and his inspiring ideas. As part of National Library Day, a whole lesson period was dedicated to the students, giving them the opportunity to read books of their choice, encouraging them to love reading and develop their knowledge.
ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು, ಆ. 12: ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೋತ್ಥಾನ ವಿದ್ಯಾಕೇಂದ್ರ – ಬನಶಂಕರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ಪಿತಾಮಹ ಡಾ. ವಿಕ್ರಂ ಸಾರಾಭಾಯಿ ಅವರ ಜಯಂತಿ ಹಾಗೂ “ಭಾರತೀಯ ಗ್ರಂಥಪಾಲಕರ ಪಿತಾಮಹ” ಎಂದು ಖ್ಯಾತರಾದ ಡಾ. ಎಸ್. ಆರ್. ರಂಗನಾಥನ್ ಅವರ ಜನ್ಮದಿನದ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಡಾ. ವಿಕ್ರಂ ಸಾರಾಭಾಯಿ ಅವರ ಜೀವನ, ಭಾರತೀಯ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಧನೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. ನಂತರ, ಸಂಶೋಧಕ, ಗಣಿತಜ್ಞ, ಗ್ರಂಥಪಾಲಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣತಜ್ಞರಾದ ಡಾ. ಎಸ್. ಆರ್. ರಂಗನಾಥನ್ ಅವರ ಜೀವನ, ಗ್ರಂಥಪಾಲನ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಪ್ರಗತಿಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿದಾಯಕ ವಿಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು. ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯ ದಿನದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ಧರಿತವಾದ ಒಂದು ಪಾಠಾವಧಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತಮಗಿಷ್ಟವಾದ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಓದುವ ಅವಕಾಶ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
